Linoleum has long and firmly found its place in the list of popular flooring. Due to the fact that it does not require complex preparatory work on the floor, as well as due to the possibility of hiding all the constructive shortcomings of the floor, linoleum is often used not only in the kitchen, but in all rooms of the apartment or house.
You can lay linoleum on concrete and wood, so there are at least restrictions with a maximum of positive qualities. The basis of qualitatively laid linoleum is the correct measurement of the area and trimming of the canvas.
It is worth noting that in each case it is important to measure the entire perimeter of the room, because there are often builders’ mistakes, which ultimately leads to deviations of the shape of the room from the rectangular, and therefore that linoleum may simply not be enough to cover the floor.
As for preparatory work on the floor itself, they are not required. Of course, to get a perfectly flat surface you will have to work, but visually the disadvantages of the uneven sex linoleum hide perfectly. If it is planned to lay linoleum on a wooden floor, then you need to take care of the reliable attachment of all the boards. If some boards are staggering, then their fastening should be strengthened, because the nails crawling from this can damage the coating in a matter of minutes.
To align the surface of the wooden floor, it is recommended to use a thin plywood with fastening in screws. With a concrete floor will have to be a little more complicated, because you need to make a screed. Many will agree that the floor in apartment buildings for the most part is far from the ideal, so that the screed of a self -alternating mixture will not be superfluous.
The process of laying linoleum itself will be much easier if the expanded canvas is left for a couple of days for leveling, and only then fasten. Linoleum laying can be carried out both using an adhesive mixture and without fixation. At the same time, it is important that linoleum is cut out so that it has gaps of 5-10 mm from the walls.
This is done so that in the process of subsequent shrinkage the edges of linoleum do not rest against the wall and do not cause deformation. To do this, it is still better to lay linoleum on the adhesive basis, which will give reliable fixation. At a minimum, in small areas of the coating, you need a mount on a double -sided tape.
