Self-employment is called professional income tax (PIT) – a special tax regime. With it, you need to pay a tax rate of 4% on income received from individuals, and 6% on income received from legal entities. Individuals and individual entrepreneurs can switch to NAP.
Platform employment is not the same, they are different concepts; but platform employment and self-employment are related. For a large number of self-employed people, online platforms are the main channel for receiving job offers, a 2022 study by consulting company Strategy Partners showed.
However, many platform workers do not register as self-employed, even if their income mainly or entirely depends on working on the online platform. Some self-employed people, on the contrary, prefer to work outside of online platforms, relying on their own client base and using the traditional method of word of mouth.
