Maxim Liksutov, and. O. The heads of the Moscow Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure informed that in the capital’s government they intend to introduce a fully updated route network developed for ground-based urban transport until 2018.
The Moscow authorities are working on the optimization of ground city transport routes, intending to remove duplicate routes, as well as remove illegal carriers from the work. Among other things, in order to improve the level of passenger service, the authorities also plan to replace the available minibuses with safer and more comfortable buses with a larger capacity.
“The development of an updated route network, under a contract, should be completed this year, in early autumn. After that, in 2016 it will begin to be implemented in stages, and by the end of 2018 it should be introduced in full, ”Liksutov explained.
The official said that in the new route network, the development of the subway and the growth of suburban routes, and all the projects for reconstruction of the highways, on which the allocated lanes for the travel of urban transport will appear, will necessarily be taken into account.
Transport communication in the suburbs should also soon improve. Residents who have home in Zhukovka or Troitsky will be able to get to the capital faster.
