At the end of the last century, the ends of the protruding logs in the corners of the buildings began to sew up with boards, as a result of which elements resembling pilasters of urban buildings appeared. At its core, these elements performed a purely decorative role, because, in contrast to the constructive purpose of real pilasters (supporting protrusions) of stone structures, they were not the supporting parts of the building. At the early stage of development, wooden pilasters were divided into three parts, like the division of a classic column into a base (base), a barrel and a capital (upper part). At the same time, classical proportions, as a rule, were not respected. All parts of the pilastr with the help of overhead rails were formed in the form of philanters, the plane of which was filled with carved overhead ornaments with geometric or plant motives. In some cases, decorative half -columns in the form of balusters, twisted or even were placed on pilasters, and most often their decoration repeated the nature of the decoration of platbands, cornices and other elements, making up a single decor system. Subsequently, pilasters began to member of a larger number of parts, depending on the complexity of the decorative solution of the construction. Among other elements of decoration of wooden houses, a considerable role is given to the cornice that appeared in folk architecture as a result of the transition from the roof to males (logs located along the slope) to the roof on the rafters, when the releases and rafter legs began to be sheathed with tesa. Initially, the cornices were smooth or slightly profiled horizontal figured rails, but with the spread of light carving, they become more and more patterned. Picks appear – openwork boards hanging from their edges. Then the thread is decorated with the front (frontal) cornice board. Often, a fed carving is also lined with a forth space, as a result of which a multi -row system of wooden mugs of cloves, circles, rectangles, hearts, etc. is formed. D., creating a rich game of light and shadow.
