Liquid wallpaper is another option for wall decoration and ceiling. This type of finish relatively recently appeared in our market. Liquid decoration can be used both in residential and office premises.
Application of liquid wallpaper is a simple lesson even for a beginner, just observe the technology. In fact, liquid wallpaper is another option for decorative wall plaster. Another advantage of liquid wallpaper is the ease of restoration of the damaged surface, which can significantly affect the speed of repair.
It is enough just to remove the damaged area and apply a new composition, only you need to consider that over time the coating can change its color, and the new composition will look lighter. One package of liquid wallpaper is enough for approximately 5 m² of surface.
In composition, liquid wallpaper is a mixture of fibers of cotton, cellulose, adhesive composition and dyes. Liquid wallpaper sold packed in packages. Before use, the contents of the package are soaked in water.
Liquid decoration begins with the preparation of the surface. I must say right away that the surface may be imperfect, liquid wallpaper can easily hide small cracks, but the better the preparation will be performed, the better the result. The preparation includes a standard set of procedures: removal of the old coating, leveling the surface (if you need plaster of the walls and ceiling) and a primer. Acrylic soil is used, which is applied in two layers (in vertical and horizontal directions).
Do -it -yourself liquid wallpaper can be applied in two ways: using a sprayer (which can be rented along with a compressor) and a spatula. Before use, the contents of the package (after shaking it) are soaked in water temperature in water. The composition is mixed until a homogeneous mass is obtained and laid back into a bag for 12 hours. The contents of each package should be kneaded separately, before use, the contents of the packages can be mixed at your discretion and divided into portions. In this form, liquid wallpaper can be stored up to two weeks.
Application of liquid wallpaper with a spatula or grater is not very different from the technology of putting walls. The composition is applied 1-2 mm thick. If the composition is thick, it can be additionally diluted with water. The material should stick well to the wall, do not slide (with a very liquid solution) and not fall off (the solution is too thick). Since shades in different packages can vary slightly in color, it is recommended to mix each new portion from the previous. After the wall is ready, it is recommended to smooth the roughness with a spatula, a trowel or a grater moistened in water.
